Psalm 47:7 KJV
Praise should be done with understanding. Why? You achieve more with understanding. When you don’t know how to use a gadget, it can’t be of much benefit to you. Or better put, you can’t derive maximum benefits from anything which you don’t have understanding of its full usage. This means Praise is a Kingdom mystery with great results, but you must engage it with UNDERSTANDING.
What therefore is understanding? Have you ever heard this phrase from the Bible, ‘My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…’?
You see, knowledge, UNDERSTANDING & wisdom all go together. Your knowledge without understanding & the rightful application of that knowledge will not benefit you. No matter what information you have, it does not give you an edge in life or over others until you understand how it works & put it to use rightly.
This means it’s not enough to sing & dance unto God. Understand the significance of doing that. And Praise with all your heart, so that it can benefit you.
Now what is understanding & how powerful is it? I will answer the second part & leave the first part of the question for you to answer 😃👍.

Understanding keeps you in the right way (Prov.2:11).
Walking on the right paths brings peace & fulfillment.
Good understanding brings favour (Prov. 13:15).
Wisdom & UNDERSTANDING is better than the gains of silver & gold (Prov.16:16).

I will sum it up this way – if you Praise God with understanding, you’ll see why the Bible says, He is fearful in Praises & why He does wonders in Praises. You’ll have evidences to show for the Power of Praise in your life. For indeed, ‘In Judah/Praise is God known. He is famous/renowned in Praises.’
Proverbs 16:22 says, ‘Understanding is a wellspring of life to him that has it…’
