How to Praise God 2

We already stated that there’s a ‘how’ to praise God, with confirmation from the Bible – Ps.47:7.

Understanding involves knowledge & wisdom. Now that we understand that Praise is not just a physical exercise but a spiritual weapon that delivers wonders to those who engage it, we must equally look at something that can hinder our Praises from being fruitful. But before we do that, let’s look again at what Praise is.

Praise is a collection of words, skillfully put together for laudation of God. It sometimes involves dances. True songs of Praise flow from the heart. It involves all our emotions. Praise flows from the depth of one’s being, with the true understanding of the God we’re praising & His abilities. This kind of Praise as described, is a true act of worship. It’s a sacrifice, an incense that God takes delight & pleasure in. It is pleasing & acceptable to God. And of course, we all know what happens to the one whom the King is pleased with 😊.

What this kind of Praise generates is the Atmosphere of God’s Glory, God’s Preciousness for His people. In this atmosphere, God makes Himself known in the lives of His people. He always manifests His great power. So we must be careful & intentionally align our emotions with our words. It should be a heart thing. God deals with us according to our hearts. We should be full of joy in Praises. The Bible says, with joy shall we draw water out of the wells of salvation – Isaiah 12:2-3.

Praise is service unto God. It should be rendered with joy. When it is not rendered with joy, the reverse becomes our lot – Deuteronomy 28:47-48, Deuteronomy 10:12.

An acceptable Praise should be given from a heart with the posture of Psalm 138:1 & 7. Psalm 108:1. Psalm 105:3-5.

We should not err in our heart – Psalm 95:10-11.

This is what makes praise not to be fruitful. When Egypt is in your heart, you remain in the wilderness. Rather than having Egypt in our hearts, we should remember the works of the LORD – Psalm 78:35-37, 40-42, Psalm 77:10-12 & Let our conviction on the person of the LORD determine our praise. Hallelujah!

David danced before the LORD with all his might. God found in him a man that was after His heart, but Michal who felt David ought to have carried himself as a King & should not have danced that way, ended up without a child unto the day of her death – 2 Samuel 6:14-23. May we be a people who praise God with deep understanding in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Blessings!
